Jesus’ words in John 4:24—“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth”—remind me that the spiritual is eternal, while the natural is destined for decay. Everything I see, touch, and experience in the physical world will one day pass away. The houses we build, the possessions we treasure, and even our earthly bodies are temporary. Yet the spirit, being eternal, remains.
God, as Spirit, exists beyond the boundaries of time, space, and the natural order. When I live from my spirit, aligning with His Spirit, I connect to the eternal reality that cannot be shaken. This truth challenges me to reorient my priorities. Why invest my heart and energy into what will ultimately be destroyed, when the spiritual—my relationship with God and the treasures of His Kingdom—will last forever?
The natural world will crumble, but the spiritual endures. Paul echoes this in 2 Corinthians 4:18, where he urges us to “fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.” As I learn to live from my spirit, I find peace and purpose that the natural can never provide. When all else is destroyed, the spirit remains—unchanging, eternal, and fully alive in Him.
