Making a Big Difference

So many Christians get the idea that they are to do something great, or that they have a big calling on their life. This may be true. But often we compare our accomplishments to big named people in the Christian Faith.

Or maybe we have had hands laid on us by someone really anointed and have had their anointing imparted. Therefore, something great awaits us!

I have had some of the world’s most anointed men lay hands on me and impart their anointing, and receive blessings from them. I have faith to receive it all! But what is really BIG is when we simply remain completely faithful to His governing influence in our lives, and do what He tells us to do. That's what Kingdom living is all about.

We have a very good friend who is a partner to our ministry. She’s not out shaking up the world with her anointing in a way that is most obvious. But what she has done is very powerful in our lives. So much so that, unlike all the great, anointed men who have laid hands on me, she’s impacted our life in such a way that we think about her every day!

She made and gave us a beautiful quilt that we cuddle under every night. It covers our king sized bed, and it keeps us snuggly warm in our older, drafty farmhouse. Gratefulness oozes from our soul every night!

We think we have to be flashy and have men seek what we have to be successful. But honestly, I think what matters most to Jesus is when we take a little time just to cover Him and His with kindness. I don’t know of one person whom I’ve touched in all my years of ministry that thinks about me and what I did for them nearly every night. But we think of her.

Great success isn’t a flash in the pan and a good dinner. It’s having your tummy full every night. It’s the little kind, loving things you do every day for others, things only you can do in your own way, that makes the big difference in His Kingdom.

Exodus 31:1-11 (NRSV)

The Lord spoke to Moses: See, I have called by name Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: and I have filled him with divine spirit, with ability, intelligence, and knowledge in every kind of craft, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, in every kind of craft. Moreover, I have appointed with him Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have given skill to all the skillful, so that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, and the ark of the covenant, and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furnishings of the tent, the table and its utensils, and the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand, and the finely worked vestments, the holy vestments for the priest Aaron and the vestments of his sons, for their service as priests, and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the holy place. They shall do just as I have commanded you.
