What is Truth?

Updated: Apr 9, 2020

Regardless as to how you see Jesus, whether He’s the Son of God, a great prophet, or a good man in history, there is one thing that nearly everyone agrees upon. Jesus could not, would not, lie.

Everything Jesus said was truth. If we look at scripture through this simple truth, with this one premise, our lives will dramatically be challenged and we will be changed.

Jesus could not, would not, did not lie.

Look at this one truth Jesus said.

“Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him, comes to Me.” John 6:45

If your listening to spiritual teaching that does not direct you to Jesus the Christ, you are not listening and learning from the Father.

No all religions aren’t equal. There are not many roads that lead to the same destination. There is only one Father, and all His teaching will direct you to Jesus the Christ. There isn’t any other direction the Father will point you in. The Father will always point you to His Son Jesus the Christ.

If your following some other spiritual leader that isn’t directing you to Jesus Christ, run! The father of lies is trying to keep you from the Father of Truth. Look at what Jesus said to a group of people who wanted to argue with him about who their father was as they were rejecting Jesus.

Jesus said to the crowd, “You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:41-44 NIV

Was Jesus lying to them, and to you, when He said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires?” No, Jesus is not lying. As hard as it is to accept, It’s true.

The father of lies will do everything he can to get you to disbelieve that Jesus is the way, the only way.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Him (John 14:6).

Jesus can not lie. Everything He says is truth. We either believe Him or believe a lie.

Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, He can not see the Kingdom of Heaven.” (John 3:3). Our inability to understand this truth doesn’t cancel it out. Jesus said it. It’s true. To believe anything else is a lie.

Your Spirit must be born again, and only God Himself can bring that about.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12-13 KJV

Believe Jesus today. Believe what he says even if it doesn’t make sense to you. He can’t lie. His thinking isn’t messed up, ours is. We must conform our thinking to His truths.

That is what it’s all about. Will we conform to the truths of the King, or not?

Say this out loud, “Lord, I believe Jesus spoke truth. I believe that anything that opposes His Word comes from the Father of lies, the Devil. Today, I am rejecting the lies, and I’m asking you Father of truth to cause me to be born again that I may see your Kingdom. I receive you Father as my Lord and I will believe your Word in my life. In Jesus’s name. Amen”

In Jesus’s last prayer to the Father He said this on your behalf, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17 KJV

Read God’s Word. It’s truth and it will sanctify you, set you apart to His Kingdom truth. If you don’t understand what you’re reading, humble yourself and ask someone who you know that reads the Word to help you to understand it.

Then trust Jesus. The Father is pointing to Him, and He’s pointing to the Father. They are always trustworthy. They will not lie to you!
