As I began to study Israel’s Iron Beam, I couldn’t help but marvel at the incredible technology behind it. This defense system uses beams of light—actual laser energy—to destroy rockets, drones, and other threats. The idea that light, something so pure and powerful, could be used to protect a nation amazed me. Then it hit me—this is more than just advanced technology. This is a picture of God Himself, who the Bible calls “light,” defending His people.
I started thinking about how often the Bible describes God as light. Psalm 27:1 came to mind: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” Suddenly, I could see the connection. Just as the Iron Beam uses concentrated light to intercept attacks, God’s light protects us from danger, guiding us and shielding us. In Exodus, when God led the Israelites through the wilderness, He appeared as a pillar of fire by night. He used His light not just to guide them, but to keep them safe.
The more I thought about it, the more this analogy deepened. The Iron Beam is an incredible invention, but it’s limited to physical threats. God’s light, on the other hand, defends us in every way—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Isaiah 54:17 came alive for me: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Just as Israel relies on the Iron Beam, we can rely on God’s light, which is infinitely more powerful and never fails.
This discovery filled me with awe. Israel’s use of light to protect its borders is a reflection of God’s greater, eternal light. Psalm 121:4 suddenly felt personal: “He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” I realized that while technology amazes us, it’s only a glimpse of the incredible ways God works to defend and protect His people.
